Local NGOs like KADERES come up against a lot of difficulties and complication that hold them back.

A lack of funding is of course one of the biggest issues with almost all NGO's. No donor often means no activities and sometimes the death of the organization. Personal donations from individuals and/or local government are limited and cannot help to fully run a functioning NGO.

KADERES has worked very hard and has been incredibly lucky to be supported by various organizations all over the world. We are doing our best to use their support in the most efficient way and to fit with their expectations in term of accountabilty and transparency.

The needs are still high in the districtand KADERES has dedicated themselves to assisting in the most at-risk areas where their services are needed. We are looking tirelessly to find new partners who can support us in implementing activities which can reduce these needs.

A lack of staff is also another difficulty when running an NGO. This is not a high paying job which results in a high turn-over rate. KADERES does not have the funds to support a large team of staff and we need the few staff we have to be competent and hard working.

One solution to ease this problem is to invite and encourage volunteers to come and work with KADERES. Currently, KADERES is working with
VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) but is also able and prepared to receive independent, private volunteers.  Through volunteering, we can give individuals a first look into the Tanzanian culture while also learning the culture of our visitor. KADERES encourages others opinions, strategies and ideas about our system, projects and management in order to run our organization more effectively and sustainably. To read more on the many volunteer opportunities, please visit our "Volunteer Roles" page and read about past and present volunteers on our "Volunteer Profiles" page.
